Among the many bridges spanning across Chicago river, the Franklin St / Orleans St bridge is probably my favorite. You may say that they are all the same, and you’d probably be right, but this one is at the bend of the river where it forks out to the southern branch, leading to the IM canal, so you can see not only the eastern part of the river and its bridges, but also the southern branch. The fact that this one is packed to the gills with tourists, like the Michigan Ave bridge, is an added bonus. Nice spot for some street shooting, minus the crowds. The Merchandise Mart building would be just off to the right, in this picture. If you like walking closer to the water, the Chicago’s River Walk runs underneath this bridge along the southern bank and ends just west of it.
