Riding a bike or driving a car while on the phone is regulated in the state of Illinois and must be hands free. There must be different interpretations to this, especially when someone takes this rule quite literally. This was on a dedicated bike path and not a public road, still, it got me thinking…
I recall I used to do this back when I was still a kid. Back then who knew how to ride without holding to he handlebar was cool and we all kept competing at this. The more daring the no hands ride the more horrific the accidents were. Live and learn.
As I grew older, however, I came to realize that not holding the handlebar and sitting upright, even if for just a moment, provided great relief to my back, so there is a definitive plus without the need to act cool.
