After doing a fair bit of monochrome IR processing in the past decade I’m now experimenting more with color. It’s an exciting and unpredictable journey – when you shoot light you can’t see, surprises are all but guaranteed.

Here is the same winter shot in RAW, RB channel swap, and RGB channel swap. This triptych reminds me of three stages of grace: the current immature and childish state we are in, a mature and graceful state we strive to grow into, and finally an otherworldly, unhinged, and peculiar state we get into when we are given absolute freedom and become children again.

Which inspired a matching senryu, based on famous teachings we all heard of:

Just come as you are,
Enter the gates of Heaven,
And be as you wish.
