The Ender Dragon

The Ender Dragon
emerges from the shadows,
silent and cunning.

#haiku

I usually do not add any text to my haiku posts, but will make an exception today. I was walking around the lake this morning, looking for some good clouds and as I was making my way through the underbrush along the water’s edge, I made a step behind this tree, spread its low branches to sneak through and I suddenly ran into this dead tree in the middle of shallow waters. It honestly scared the living daylights out of me. Going against the light, half blinded by the morning sun, its silhouette looked like a monstrous creature, crouching in the water with its spreading spiky wings. Thank God I always have my GR strapped to my wrist, because it fell out of my hand. All I could think of was when my daughter and I were doing the final battle against the Ender Dragon in Minecraft, trying to steal its egg.

Took several shots from different angles, but couldn’t do head on as infrared never works too well straight into the sun. Post processed in Color Efex to add halation and for final conversion I ran it through Silver Efex.

Well, there you have it. Landscape photography isn’t always a dull boring hobby some may believe it to be.
